The CSPs policy officer for Wales, Philippa Ford, has been asked by the Welsh assembly government to lead a project that will set standards for healthcare support workers.
The invitation came from health minister Edwina Hart. Philippa Ford described her appointment as ‘a terrific privilege’, adding: ‘It’s a great honour, both for me and the CSP.’ Launched last month, the consultation focuses on the needs of support workers and assistant practitioners in Wales. It runs for one month and support workers are being encouraged to submit their views. Responses will be used to help develop a ‘Code of conduct’ for support workers and a ‘Code of practice’ for employers. ‘This initiative offers huge potential for the future development and support of staff,’ Philippa Ford said. CSP members are encouraged to send their views to Philippa Ford, mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org and Peter Finch, email@example.com
