‘anti-competitive’ trusts making patients wait

Primary care trust managers are criticised in a report from the Co-operation and Competition Panel for anti-competitive practices, including making patients wait for routine knee and hip replacement operations.

The independent watchdog found some trusts had introduced minimum waiting times to save money and maintain a level playing field for providers. It said some patients went private or even died before they got care. www.ccpanel.org.uk
