Overview
This 2-day course is open to all practitioners who are responsible for the treatment of non-life threatening traumatic wounds in the emergency setting.
Course Aims
DAY 1 Basic
• Principles of wound management
• Wound assessment and examination
• Infiltration (local anaesthetic)
• Methods of wound closure (Tissue adhesive, steri-strips, staples)
• Dressing techniques
• Basic suture skill
DAY 2 Advanced
• Recap of Day 1
• Management of fingertip/nailbed injuries
• Methods of suturing
• Closure of more complex wounds (ears, lips, oral mucosa etc)
• Red flags
• Questions and evaluation

Fee: £280.00
This is a practical course. Animal products will be used (pigs belly, trotters and head) You will leave the course with a competency document to take back to your workplace. You will receive a certificate of attendance. The learning hours can contribute to your professional development portfolio and as part of your revalidation.
