Course Aims
The study day will provide an opportunity to learn about rehabilitation in the context of adults presenting with chronic pain and:
- Act as a refresher of basic knowledge and skills
- Give you an opportunity to share latest innovations/research/theory-practice developments
- Provide opportunities for learning and practice of some specific skills and strategies
- Introduce you to strategies for dealing with roadblocks or obstacles to treatment change
Learning Outcomes
Specific Topics will include:
- Introduction to pain management rehabilitation
- The Gate Control Theory as a key underlying integrative foundation - linking physical and psychosocial elements
- Physical reconditioning elements of pain management
- Psychosocial/psychological aspects/ the CBT framework
- Assessment issues/outcome/evaluation (e.g. what to measure)
- Best practice in the development of a pain management rehabilitation service
- The return to work agenda
