Reasons to be cheerful

Here's 10 reasons to be cheerful about the society's achievements in 2017.

  1. Campaigning for a catch-up pay rise: with the help of stewards, we ran workplace meetings attended by almost 300 members, gathered the views of thousands and attended a rally of parliament in support of our cost of living-plus pay claim. See more on pay:
  2. Pinpoint the Pressure: we launched a workplace campaign on workplace stress and workloads that helped members identify and collectively relieve the pressure locally. Already over 500 physio staff have engaged with it. Find out about Pinpoint the Pressure:
  3. Building a Better Balance: we helped CSP members secure flexible working, including for members returning from maternity leave, with a comprehensive range of resources and training for stewards. Find out about Building a Better Balance:
  4. Tasty training eBites: hundreds of members and reps used our new elearning training package tools to better understand their work rights and the union support available to them. Access via the CSP learning hub:
  5. Reps'courses clinch TUC recognition: we won external recognition for our induction training for workplace reps. As a result CSP stewards now receive the TUC stage 1 certificate quicker. Some 200 new stewards were inducted in 2017. Read our news story:
  6. Organising ups member engagement: Siân and Kevin, our two organisers, discussed local issues at workplace meetings with hundreds of members and signed up new stewards and safety reps at employers where the positions had been hard to fill. See more:
  7. Minding our mental health: we created a new resource to help raise awareness about an issue that can affect anyone at any time. There's clinical and legal information, case studies and links to CSP campaigns, advice and help. Find out more:
  8. Lending a legal hand: we supported dozens of members through our solicitors Thompsons, more than half for HCPC matters. Partial figures show we secured tens of thousands of pounds in personal injury compensation. Find out more about legal help:
  9. Cleverer communications: we tried new things in communicating with reps and members, including the production of a 'social video' (shared on Facebook and Twitter) on the pay campaign that was seen by thousands. Watch the video:
