Active stories: Mark Campbell

"I’ve used climbing as my rehabilitation. It’s not been an easy journey but it has given me my independence back. It is the only time in the day where I can step outside of my body. It has to work and adapt and I don’t feel pain because my mind is so focused on problem-solving.

Climbing is a full body and mind workout but contrary to what many people think, it is also a slow, gentle sport. People think you have to be ripped with muscles to do it but I climb regularly with amputees. It has allowed me to get back into the world of exercise and activity which I felt completely cut out from."
