Evidence Based Clinical Guidelines for the Physiotherapy Management of Adults with Lower Limb Prostheses

These guidelines are for the physiotherapy management of adults with lower limb prostheses. Based on the best available research evidence, they focus on physiotherapy but set it in context with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The guidelines target physiotherapists who are directly or indirectly involved in caring for people with lower limb prostheses - physiotherapy teachers and practitioners foremost, but also commissioners/providers of healthcare, GPs, orthopaedic surgeons, prosthetists, occupational therapists and others. Not least, they were written in plain English, because they are intended to be accessible to patients and their representative organisations.

Also available is a quick reference guide: this document summarises the recommendations. Please refer to the full guideline document for details of the methodology and processes undertaken in the development of these recommendations.

Also available is an audit form: this document summarises the audit tools developed to monitor the extent of adherence of services and individual practitioners to the guidelines.
