Engaging with NICE: a how-to guide for CSP members

Evidence-based practice in physiotherapy is embedded in the Standards of Proficiency of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The use of evidence based guidelines is one way of helping to implement evidence into practice.

The purpose of this guide is to outline the different ways in which physiotherapy staff can engage with one of the major guideline producers, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Due to the nature of registering as stakeholders with NICE, this document is primarily relevant to Professional networks, but may be useful for all CSP members to understand how NICE works.

The paper is divided into the following sections:

  • About NICE
  • Getting started on engaging with NICE
  • How to get involved with NICE, including responding to consultations
