These negotiations, in which the CSP is directly involved, are taking place under the auspices of the TUC and are aimed at agreeing overarching principles which would be considered in separate scheme specific negotiations.
The threats to the existing scheme are:
- replacement of final salary with a career average revalued earnings (CARE) scheme
- the alignment of the (normal) pension age with age at which you receive a state pension
- the proposal (from April 2012) to increase contributions by an average of 3% and the shift from RPI to (the lower) CPI as the basis for the future uprating of pensions.
