CSP physio Jim Fahie speaks from the rally to save our NHS
CSP physio Jim Fahie speaks at the March 7 Westminster rally
Physiotherapists and physiotherapy staff are united with doctors, nurses and NHS professionals in opposition to the government's Health and Social Care bill.
CSP member Jim Fahie is one of many people speaking out against the bill at the March 7 rally in Westminster. You can hear all speakers on the live stream above, from 6pm.
The All Together campaign
The CSP, together with other trade unions, and a growing number civil society organisations reject the government's deep rapid, rapid cuts to spending. They are hurting hard working public servants, including NHS staff. They are hitting workers in the private sector too. They are hitting growth and jobs. They are hitting the most vulnerable the hardest. They are not necessary.
We believe there is a fairer alternative, where those with the broadest shoulders contribute the most to the costs of rebuilding the economy and improving the public finances. In particular, as it was the banks and other financial institutions whose reckless risk-taking got us into this mess, they need to shoulder a fair share of the costs of getting us out of it. One easy way banks can make a fair contribution this is through a Financial Transaction Tax.

NHS cuts - Stretched to the limit
We held a parliamentary event in January 2012 attended by MPs from all three main parties, in which we presented the findings of our new 'Stretched to the Limit' report consisting of analysis of Freedom of Information requests to PCTs about cuts to physiotherapy services.
The national event in Westminster is to be followed up with one-to-one constituency-based meetings with MPs.

Get involved!
Find out about the forthcoming Rally to Save the NHS on 7 March from 18:00 - 19:30pm in Westminster, London.
Find out how you can join in at the False Economy website, which is backed by TUC affiliated trade unions including the CSP. It tracks the cuts around the country, provides the arguments against them and for a fairer alternative, and has up-to-date details of local campaigns to protect public services like the NHS: www.falseeconomy.org.
Behind most successful campaigns are many people taking small actions. So get involved. If we each make a small contribution, we can make a big difference!
Let us know (and maybe send us a picture) if you are involved in any activity to protect your local public services, including your NHS physiotherapy service: send an email to Tom Gill.
By publicising actions we take, however small, we can encourage others to do the same.
