Visitors

The LIS team welcome CSP members as well as health professionals and members of the public with an interest in physiotherapy and/or rehabilitation.

Guidance on conduct

In brief:

  • please respect the right of other users to work in a conducive study environment
  • do not damage, mark or remove the library stock or equipment
  • using the internet connection is for work and study purposes only and the usual restrictions on improper/illegal use apply
  • you may drink water in the LRC but you are asked to refrain from eating or drinking soft drinks. Please keep water away from the computers
  • you should pay staff for any copying or printing you do. Please be sure to bring change
  • do not use mobile phones in the LRC
  • you should respect the right of LIS staff and other users to work without fear or intimidation and to be treated with courtesy.

Appointments

All visitors (regardless of whether you are a CSP member) require an appointment to access the LRC. This is to ensure that the LIS staff can provide the facilities you require eg: computer access, a study desk or another specific resource.

Appointments must be booked one working day in advance eg: Monday bookings must be made by 5pm on the previous Friday. Appointments can be made by calling: +44 (0)20 7306 6666. Please indicate whether you will need to access a computer, if you require assistance because of a disability, want to make use of the disabled access resources or if you expect to need assistance from a member of staff.

On arrival visitors to the LRC will be asked by reception to produce some form of identification. Valid forms of identification are: CSP membership card, student card, library card, driving license, passport, or letter of introduction from university or business on headed paper.

Facilities for those with disabilities

The LRC includes

  • screen reader (JAWS for Windows 8.0 13.0)
  • a scanner and speech synthesis system (Cicero 3.05)
  • magnifier/screen reader software (ZoomText Xtra 8.0)
  • a 64 cell Braille display
  • CCTV
  • BigKeys LX keyboard (QWERTY upper case layout with white keys)
  • BigKeys LX key guard
  • large print keyboards - black/yellow and black/white
  • hearing induction loop at the LRC enquiry desk

The LRC is accessible to wheelchair users. Staff are happy to assist or advise visitors in order to enable them to effectively access the resources.

Hours

The Library and Information service is open Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, closed weekends, Bank Holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

Self-service copying

There is a self-service copier available in the LRC. A4 size is charged at 5p per single side and 10p per double side. A3 is 10p per single side and 20p per double. Please pay staff in the centre.

Computer access

Computer access is free to members of the CSP. The computers in the LRC give access to bibliographic databases, the library catalogue and the Internet. The LRC is also Wi-Fi enabled.

Please note: non-members are welcome to use the LRC and the collections but there is a charge of £20.00 per day to access a computer in the LRC. Printing is charged at 5p per A4 sheet.

Group visits

Library and Information Services are happy to provide tours of the LRC explaining the resources available, and pointing out key resources in your subject area of interest. Due to space limitations in the LRC, a maximum of eight people can be accommodated on any one group visit. The LRC is on the Lower Ground at the front of the CSP building. Please report to reception at the time of your appointment and staff there will direct you to the Centre.
