RSS feeds are a great way of saving time when looking for the latest information from a range of different sites.
Websites offer this service using RSS feeds. You can tell if a website has an RSS feed by looking for the orange square with white radio waves.
To read news feeds you will need a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome, a web based news reader such as Google Reader, Netvibes or Microsoft Live, or a desktop news reader or widget.
RSS feeds using a Google Reader account
One of the easiest ways of receiving news using RSS feeds is to set up a Google Reader account.
Once you have set up your account, you can start adding feeds to it.
You can use Google Reader to collect news from any website that uses RSS feeds.
Look for a website that you want to keep in touch with, such as BBC health, NHS evidence, the Cochrane Library or even the CSP.
Locate the RSS feed icon. It's normally found on the website's home page or on the news pages.
Then either copy the URL or right-click the RSS icon and copy the link address.
From here, return to your Google Reader account and select ‘Add a subscription.’
