Other endorsed programmes

Four post-qualifying programmes, run outside a higher education institution, are currently endorsed by the CSP.

All these programmes provide a good-quality learning experience that makes an effective contribution to your CPD:

Aquatic therapy

Foundation Programme in Aquatic Therapy: CSP endorsed and approved by the Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (ATACP).

The Foundation course in Aquatic Therapy is already very popular, with ATACP accredited tutors already delivering over 40 courses per year throughout the UK. Very few undergraduate programmes contain sufficient education or practice in Aquatic Therapy to allow newly qualified staff to be working within their scope of practice in this area. The ability to be able to prove their competence is therefore a great boost to the profession and can only mean better and more effective treatment programmes for patients.

Application forms are available from the iCSP aquatic therapy network.

Later life training

Postural Stability Instructor Training Programme - Exercise for the Prevention of Falls and Injuries in Frailer Older People.

Physiotherapists are ideally placed to apply the knowledge and skills acquired on the course to their clinical practice for the benefit of patients and carers. Physiotherapists are the key to ensuring long term appropriate exercise provision for the patient with a history of falls through liaison with, and guidance of, specialist postural stability instructors and/or advanced exercise for the older person instructors based in community health and leisure settings.

For further details and to apply, see the later life training website www.laterlifetraining.co.uk or phone: 01838 300 310.

Occupational health

Introduction to Working in Occupational Health (OH) - CSP endorsed and approved by the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health & Ergonomics (ACPOHE).

This three day programme is the first of seven units that develop the knowledge and skills of the physiotherapist to enable them to deliver effective occupational health physiotherapy and ergonomic interventions.

For further details and to apply, see ACPOHE's website www.acpohe.org.uk.

Women's health

Pelvic floor examination and assessment for urinary incontinence - CSP endorsed and approved by the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women's Health (ACPWH).

The main objective of the programme is to introduce essential and correct evidence-based information on pelvic floor examination and assessment of urinary incontinence for physiotherapists working with women with urinary incontinence/pelvic floor dysfunction.

For further details and to apply, see ACPWH's website www.acpwh.org.uk or the iCSP women's health network.
