CSP statement regarding Ashok Sreenivas

CSP press release published on 8 July 2010

CSP chief executive Phil Gray comments on HPC decision to ban Ashok Sreenivas from its register.

Commenting on the decision by the Health Professions Council (HPC) to remove Mr Ashok Chitte Sreenivas from its register, Phil Gray, CSP chief executive said: "The CSP condemns the inappropriate conduct displayed by physiotherapist, Ashok Sreenivas. While this is an isolated case, it is very regrettable that the conduct of anyone risks tarnishing the reputation of the profession and the high regard in which the majority of physiotherapists are held.

"In order for a patient to recover from injury or illness, it is essential that they feel able to trust their physiotherapist. Clearly in this particular case, according to the findings of the HPC, that trust was abused. The CSP supports the decision made by the HPC and believes it is essential that behaviour of this kind is dealt with rigorously so that every effort is made to protect patients." Ends
