AHPs experienced in the care of older people can apply for the 30 fellowship places

Supported by funding from Health Education England, 30 places on the fellowship programme will be open to nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) who are experienced in the care of older people and work at band 7 or above.

The part-time fellowships, which start in early 2018 and run for 12 months, are all fully funded and will include online and face-to-face learning. The funding will cover fees, the cost of residential events and travelling to study days.

The nine physiotherapists who joined the fellowship in 2017 were among the first AHPs to be allowed to join the scheme, which was previously open only to nurses.

‘The AHPs have enhanced the fellowship for all the fellows through their contribution to the sharing of knowledge, skills and experience and networking with all their colleagues,’ said Ms Hayes.
