The team at Burton Hospitals NHS Trust used the World Health Organization’s Agita Mundo or Move for Health day as a chance to expand their existing monthly workout sessions across the trust.
On the day, staff at the hospital could help create fresh fruit smoothies by cycling on a stationary bike, take part in circuits classes, or enjoy a more leisurely 20-minute walk.
The day was put together by Band 5 physios at the trust in conjunction with the trust’s directors and Burton Albion football club’s community trust.
Head of physiotherapy at Queen’s Hospital, Burton, Melanie Rowland, said the day was a great example of leadership by the trust’s Band 5 physiotherapy workforce.
‘This has really helped raise the profile of the profession and the vital role that physios have in health promotion,’ she said.
