An upper limb specialist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Ms Jones will spend two weeks in the country observing clinical practice. In particular, she will look at how doctors and physiotherapists help restore upper limb function following trauma and in elective surgery.

She said: ‘Here in Sheffield I’ve been fortunate to work with a great team of surgeons for over 15 years.

‘Through this fellowship, I will be able to share our expertise in South Africa and bring back new knowledge and experience which could shape care for patients in Sheffield too.’

The society’s annual fellowship is awarded to one allied health professional member and one consultant member.
