Helen Tyler is a Macmillan therapy services manager at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. She is due to receive the Henry Garnett award from Macmillan Cancer Support at a ceremony in Wales on 27 January.

Ms Tyler, who is an ambassador for the charity at the cross-party Welsh Assembly group for cancer, told Frontline: ‘I have been recognised for my work in flagging up the need for all cancer patients in Wales to receive person-centred, supportive care.

‘I am calling for greater awareness of patients’ needs, to be able to live well after cancer treatment, whether that’s long-term survival or end-of-life care.’

She added that she was unaware of other physios in Wales who have been given this award, which is open to all Macmillan staff.
