The games were open to older people living in care homes who competed in a range of activities, including basketball, static cycling and a wheelchair obstacle race.

The ex-service men and women came from homes run by Erskine, a Scottish charity that provides care to veterans.

Janet Leith, Erskine’s head physiotherapist, said: ‘The games have brought many benefits to our residents. These include increased confidence, improved physical fitness and mental wellbeing and the chance to mix with different people to have fun.’
