Join us on October 18

11 September 2014 - 3:38pm

This October, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy will be joining other health related unions on a march through London to call on the government to provide Britain with a pay rise and we are asking you to join us.

The CSP is asking you to attend to show your support for our cause of "Fair pay for quality physiotherapy".

If we show that our members are serious about their need for a pay rise by ensuring a good turn out, our message cannot be ignored or simply brushed aside. It is with this in mind that we ask for your help, which is as simple as attending on 18 October.

The consequences for the CSP and the other health unions if we fail to demonstrate that we have your support on the 18th should not be under-estimated. Certainly it will make it more difficult for the CSP to achieve any real improvements to the pay and working conditions in your sector.

We have a general election coming up next year and this rally is timely in reminding politicians that you as a voter have serious concerns that require their immediate attention.

It is therefore vital that you attend this rally.

We are acutely aware that as CSP members, you are facing the biggest squeeze on your income for generations.  Wages have fallen in real terms every year since 2010, but as growth returns to the UK economy, it is our belief that we should all receive a share in the recovery.

Wherever you work – the independent sector, for a charity, in higher education, the MOD, in private practice or the NHS, there are strong reasons for you to come along and support the CSP to be heard on your behalf.

We will be meeting along the Victoria Embankment at 11am on Saturday 18 October and marching toward a rally in Hyde Park.  From past experience, the day will be vibrant with a carnival atmosphere with many of us bringing our children along to enjoy the atmosphere.

Please let us know that you will be joining us by making your pledge here:

On the day

Assemble: meet at 11am along the Embankment near Blackfriars. The nearest open tubes are Blackfriars (District/Circle), Southwark (Jubilee) and St Pauls (Central), and coach parks will be Wembley, 02 and New Covent Garden.

March: the march will move off at noon, and march via Northumberland Avenue, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly to Hyde Park for a rally.

Rally: to be held in Hyde Park with inspirational speakers, comedians, live music and food stalls.

We expect health unions and workers to be marching together. Bring comfortable shoes. The CSP will have flags and some giant inflatables, but bring your own placards, banners, badges as well as chants and slogans. Details of prizes for best stickers and banners will be available on this page in due course.
