Pauline Campbell and Elizabeth Connolly-Anderson, who work for Western Health and Social Care Trust at the Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Londonderry, won in the pain management project of the year category.

They were recognised for their ‘moving with pain’ programme, which is designed for patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain.

The programme provides patients with education, exercise, relaxation and goal setting. It also uses research about living with chronic pain, patient feedback and outcome measures.

According to the trust the outcomes showed people completing the programme had statistically significant improvements in their confidence to cope with pain.

Elaine Way, chief executive of the trust, said: ‘Staff performance at this year’s awards demonstrates their commitment and reflects their personal dedication in providing a first rate service to patients and clients.’
