CSP to host major European congress

6 September 2013 - 9:59am

File 117959The CSP has won a bid to host a major educational physiotherapy congress that is held in a different European country every four years.

The World Confederation for Physical Therapy has asked the CSP to host its next education congress, in 2016, and the CSP is asking members to come forward to join the congress’s scientific and organising committee.

Last year’s congress was held in Vienna, and it has been decided that the 2016 event will take place at the BT Convention Centre in Liverpool. There will be no separate Physiotherapy UK conference in 2016.

The European education congress is one of the largest events in world physiotherapy.

The UK congress’s theme and title will be decided at a meeting to be held in Copenhagen later this month.

CSP international adviser, Birgit Mueller-Winkler, said: ‘Hosting the ER-WCPT congress is a great opportunity for CSP members to get involved in the preparations to shape this unique European physiotherapy event.

‘The scientific and organising committee will, in close collaboration with ER-WCPT, develop the programme which will cater for the interests of physiotherapists at different stages of their career: from students and new graduates to advanced practitioners, researchers and educators.’

CSP members interested in joining the Scientific and Organising Committee for the ER-WCPT congress should email: enquiries@csp.org.uk

The congress takes place from 11–12 November 2016.
