Physios encouraged to apply for arthritis awards

Two separate funding awards are up for grabs for physiotherapists from Arthritis Research UK.

It is offering both a medal prize and educational grants up for grabs for those involved in research projects relevant to rheumatology health professionals.

The Arthritis Research UK Physiotherapy Silver Medal Prize is awarded for the highest quality research or clinical work and its overall contribution to rheumatology physiotherapy.

The British Health Professionals in Rheumatology (BHPR) manages the £1,000 prize, which will be presented at the British Society of Rheumatology annual conference in April next year. The deadline for applications is 21 November.

Educational grants

Arthritis Research UK is also calling for research proposals aimed at enhancing the education of healthcare professionals and the public on musculoskeletal disorders.

The charity has a series of educational grants available and is ideally looking for short-term, small-scale projects that can be completed in less than 12 months and for a budget of under £50,000. 

Applications are invited which address research particular questions under the topics of ‘Education of non-specialist health care workers’ and ‘Living with arthritis’.

The deadline for submitting an intent form for this award is 19 September.
