ARC 2012: E-rostering systems becoming a 'nightmare'

9 February 2012

Physiotherapists risk being treated like children and monitored by 'Big Brother' as e-rostering systems are rolled out across the NHS, delegates were warned.

Proposing a motion calling on the CSP to investigate and publish information and guidance about  the ‘Time, Attendance and e-rostering’ (TAer) systems rapidly being introduced across the NHS, Zoe Clare from North East stewards said that e-rostering systems to date where predominantly nursing based and how it would work in physiotherapy departments was 'relatively unknown'.

Andrew Dickenson from East Midlands stewards questioned whether it was necessary to have a 'big brother approach' to monitoring physiotherapists working time.

'Should we be treated like children?' he asked.

Jill Barker from the North East region warned that e-rostering was becoming 'a bit of a nightmare' and said that it was a 'disgrace to have flexible working rights taken away' from physiotherapists 'little by little'.
