The physiotherapy gym has been re-designed complete with new equipment and is for the sole use of children at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Senior paediatric physiotherapist Naomi Dunmore said the project took six months to achieve, with funding from the hospital’s charitable trust and the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service charity.
The bright and spacious facility now offers a separate waiting area for paediatric patients, a new baby sensory corner, as well as three specially-decorated cubicles decorated for boys, girls, and – for the more adventurous – a submarine theme.
Rugby injury
Matt Hampson (far right), a former Leicester Tigers rugby player who was paralysed after an accident during a game, and who now runs a charity supporting those with similar injuries, cut the red ribbon at the event on 1 February.
Mr Hampson was joined by players from the current Tigers squad – brothers Alesana and Manu Tuilagi.
