Lobby a Lord to protect NHS

21 November 2011 - 2:01pm

The CSP is asking members to Lobby a Lord by sending a letter highlighting concerns over the Health and Social Care Bill.

The controversial bill is currently being scrutinised by peers and this is the final opportunity to lobby for changes.

It  would transform the NHS as we know it, the society says. CSP is particularly concerned the NHS reforms will increase competition based on price rather than quality, and this will have a negative impact on patient care.

The society has already sent briefings outlining the CSP's position to many peers, but the Lobby a Lord campaign is now urging members to write to a peer or peers, setting out the society’s concerns.

Lobbying letter

More information and a template letter, which can be personalised, is available on the CSP website, at the link below.

Here members can choose which peer to send their letter to from a list of those who are interested in physiotherapy issues, are associated with a particular geographical area or at random through the Write To Them website.

It is expected that peers will continue debating the bill until mid-January and this is the final opportunity for physiotherapy staff to lobby for changes to ensure the bill is as good as it can be before it becomes law.

The CSP public affairs team is keen to hear from members about any responses from Lords, please email if you receive a reply.
