WCPT congress: Research awards in Amsterdam

24 June 2011 - 5:17pm

Nine CSP members received medals from chair of council Ann Green at the World Confederation for Physical Therapy congress in Amsterdam.

They were winners of the Robert Williams International Award, presented every four years to physios who have produced high-quality research.

The award, from the CSP Charitable Trust, includes financial assistance to winners to present their findings at the WCPT congress. Set up in 1984, it commemorates a member of the society’s WCPT committee who died in 1982.

Some papers looked into evidence for long-standing practices and sought solutions for obstacles to mobility. Others included subjects such as exercise for children with disabilities, cognitive factors in chronic neck pain and ways of empowering stroke survivors.

The award-winning research will be featured in the 20 July issue of Frontline, on the Physio findings pages.
