Cuba's medical system is renowned. Its unique political position, with more than 50 years as a socialist republic, makes it a fascinating destination for this trip.

You’ll visit physios working in polyclinics – a neighbourhood-based model of healthcare – a rehabilitation clinic, and a specialist orthopaedic hospital.

Planned highlights including meeting physios working with the Cuban 2012 Olympic team and the world-famous Cuban National Ballet.

The seven-day trip to Havana, on a direct flight from Gatwick, is due to take place from 30 November to 7 December 2011.

The highly-regarded physio and academic Lesley Dawson, PhD, FCSP, will be leading the trip and a member of Frontline staff will also accompany readers.

Dr Dawson has been a member of the CSP since 1963 and was a member of Council in the 1980s.

She is currently Chair of the ADAPT (the Chartered Physiotherapists in International Health and Development) Professional Network and worked as a principal lecturer at the University of Brighton.

The trip, open to non-physio partners, is likely to cost around £1,800.
