The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Charitable Trust

Supporting the advancement of physiotherapy education and research

1st October 2006 Deadline

The CSP Charitable Trust provides associate members of the CSP with the opportunity to apply for and gain funding to support their continuing professional development and development of the physiotherapy profession within the field of education. The next deadline is 1st October 2006.

Associate members of the CSP of more than two years who are undertaking formal, nationally accredited courses, such as first degrees, accredited clinical courses, N/SVQs, Access and Open University courses, BTEC awards and A’Levels can apply for funding from the Charitable Trust. Funding is for expenses related to the course; course fees, books, travel and subsistence.

The CSP Charitable Trust awarded funding to 12 associate members in 2005 to help with them their CPD, totalling £3,250, which included courses such as a Foundation degree in Health and Social Care, BTEC Professional Development Award in Physiotherapy support, BSc Exercise and Health Sciences and a Holistic Therapy Diploma.

One CSP associate member was awarded funding towards a Sports & Remedial Massage course, which formed part of the City & Guilds’ Holistic Therapy Diploma. As a result of undertaking the course, she identified improvements in her observation and problem-solving skills as well as seeing her confidence level improve. The course had given her a better understanding of various sports injuries and conditions and she intended to continue undertaking appropriate remedial-work courses.

Additional support for associate members

CSP Associate members can also use the CSP information paper Sources of Funding for Physiotherapy Assistants (CPD27) to find other sources of funding to undertake formally accredited programmes of study.
