Guidelines for physiotherapy management of shoulder impingement syndrome.

22 August 2005 - 4:30pm

Evidence based clinical guidelines for the diagnosis, assessment and physiotherapy management of shoulder impingement syndrome are now available from CSP.

These guidelines systematically appraise the best available evidence for the assessment, diagnosis and management of shoulder impingement syndrome and, based on this evidence, provide recommendations for physiotherapists' clinical practice.  The guidelines cover a patient's journey from assessment/diagnosis, through physiotherapy management to evaluation of outcome and patient discharge to self-management or referral to orthopaedic opinion.

The guidelines have met the Society's rigorous endorsement process and are highly recommended to musculoskeletal physiotherapists.  They will also be a useful resource for service managers, general practitioners, orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists.

Copies are available from the CSP.  For more information, please contact Helen Whittaker on whittakerh@csp.org.uk
