Dogs owners in Hampshire are invited to join chartered animal physiotherapists during National Pet Week (30 April - 8 May) to learn canine massage techniques to help keep their pets in good shape.

Dogs owners in Hampshire are invited to join chartered animal physiotherapists during National Pet Week (30 April - 8 May) to learn canine massage techniques to help keep their pets in good shape.

Members of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) will be holding a sponsored dog massage marathon on Saturday 30 April at Sutton Animal Physiotherapy Practice in Littleton.

Visitors can come along and see demonstrations of how canine massage can help with the care and rehabilitation of their pets. Owners are welcome to bring their dog to the session for a spot of massage and will learn useful skills to take away with them.

Amanda Sutton, chartered animal physiotherapist at Sutton Animal Physiotherapy Practice, says: 'Canine massage is vitally important in maintaining the health of your dog. It can help improve their range of movement, decreasing pain and discomfort, assist in relaxation and aid recovery following injury.

'The sponsored dog massage is a great opportunity for owners to learn basic techniques that they can take home and use. They can also meet the professionals working in canine healthcare to find out about utilising our skills to promote their pets' general health and wellbeing.'

The dog massage marathon will take place between 9.00am - 6.00pm at Sutton Animal Physiotherapy Practice, Harestock Stud Physiotherapy Centre, Kennel Lane, Littleton, Nr Winchester, Hampshire SO22 6PT.

Entry to the event is by ticket only. Tickets will cost £5.00 and proceeds will go to the charity Dogs Trust. Those interested in attending the dog massage marathon are advised to phone the practice and book a time slot.
