Are you a young steward (or student member) interested in helping to make sure that the views of young CSP members are heard at national level?

The CSP can send up to two members to the TUC Young Members' Conference, a meeting of young trade unionists which advises the TUC General Council on current issues affecting young people at work. There will be a lively mix of workshops and debates, giving an opportunity to build the confidence and communication skills of young union members or representatives.

Next year the conference will be held in Newcastle. It will begin on the evening of Friday 1 April with a social event for delegates and concludes at midday on Sunday 3 April. Delegates will review the work of the Young Members' Forum over the past year and shape their programme of work for the year ahead.

If you are interested in taking part you must be under 27 years of age on 1 April 2005. You will need to supply brief details about yourself, with a short paragraph explaining why you would like to attend. This should be sent to Sarah Trivuncic in the CSP's Employment Relations & Union Services function, either by fax on 020 7306 6693 or by email to trivuncics@csp.org.uk by Wednesday 22 December. Unions also have the opportunity to submit key topics they would like to see discussed. For an informal chat about attending, or to talk about issues which might be suitable for submitting for discussion at the conference, please call Lesley Mercer, Assistant Director of Employment Relations & Union Services, on 020 7306 6672.
