Older People’s Day

Older People’s Day on 1 October will focus on helping people stay active as they get older.

1 October is Older People's Day – a day recognised by the United Nations as an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary contributions and achievements of older people.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus how crucial keeping active is to prevent deconditioning among our elderly population.

We know how vital a role physiotherapists can play in the lives of older people and we're sharing an animation featuring an introduction by fitness star Diana Moran, aka the Green Goddess.

How to get involved

We’d love it if you could share the above animation in your workplace, with patients or on social media. Remember, you can promote your Older People's Day activities on via Twitter using the hashtag #OlderPeoplesDay and mentioning @theCSP in your tweets.

Why not @mention your local MP to enlist their support for the day and recognise the difference physiotherapy makes to the lives of older people, helping them lead an active life and prevent deconditioning?

You can find your local MP (UK), MSP (Scotland), MS (Wales) or MLA (Northern Ireland) via the links below.

Use the day to promote physiotherapy locally

If your service is planning an Older People's Day activity or event, please inform the Campaigns and Regional Engagement Team via cre@csp.org.uk. Tell us where you are based and what you are planning so we can help make the most of your ideas.

Promote your event

Use #OlderPeoplesDay on Twitter, and by copying @theCSP into your tweets you can also share your photos, and promote events and activities.
