Jane Mitchell MSc MCSP (left) is the Professional Lead for Physiotherapy for the NHS in Cornwall with an integrated role covering both the Acute and Community Trusts. She has been a practicing Physiotherapist since qualifying in 1990 and has had a wide and diverse career involving senior roles in ITU, Trauma and Orthopaedics and ED as well as involvement in national and international sport. In more recent years she has been the Musculoskeletal Clinical Lead in Cornwall evolving the Musculoskeletal Interface Service from its outset whilst also practicing as an Advance Practice Physiotherapist for patients with hip and knee conditions. During this time Jane undertook an 18 month secondment within commissioning (2010) and led on the redesign of the musculoskeletal services in Cornwall. Jane is a member of the South West Clinical Senate Council and was formerly a member of the Professional Executive Committee of the late Primary Care Trust within Cornwall. She is enjoying her fairly new Professional Lead role and is getting to know all of the Physiotherapists and their specialities within Cornwall. Jane is reinvigorated in her passion for the Physiotherapy profession and would like as many Physiotherapists from all walks of life to engage and help shape the way ahead for Physiotherapy in the land of opportunity that we are currently in!
