About the Physiotherapy Journal

Physiotherapy is the official journal of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. The journal has a long prestigious history; the first edition was published in July 1915 (Vol. 1 No. 1) and was then known as the 'Journal of the Incorporated Society of Trained Masseuses'.
The current aims and scope of Physiotherapy are as follows: to publish original research and facilitate continuing professional development for physiotherapists and other health professionals for physiotherapists and other health professionals worldwide. It is also dedicated to the advancement of physiotherapy through publication of research and scholarly work concerned with, but not limited to, its scientific basis and clinical application, education of practitioners, management of services and policy.
Physiotherapy publishes articles reporting scientific research, systematic or narrative reviews, educational, theoretical or debate articles, brief reports, case histories or single case studies. All submitted papers should demonstrate methodological rigour. Physiotherapy is peer reviewed by an international panel.
Physiotherapy is indexed, abstracted and/or published online in the following bibliographic databases: AMED, CINAHL, CIRRIE, CISTI, HEED, MANTIS and RECAL.

All amounts are paid in pounds sterling. Payments by cheque should be made payable to 'The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy'. If you opt to pay by credit/debit card please include the card holder's name, whether the card is a Visa, Mastercard, or Switch card (we do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards), the card number, the card expiry date, the security number (3 digits on the reverse of the card), and if paying by Switch the issue number.
