- Check the details in the first panel - 'Personal details'.
- If any details are incorrect, missing, or marked in red as 'Please update', click the 'EDIT' button on the panel in question. This will bring up a form where you should update the details and press 'SAVE'.
- Scroll down through the rest of the panels, checking and updating as you go.
- At the end of the form you will see three 'Confirmation' questions. If you agree to them, check each box and press the 'CONTINUE' button.
- If you want to make any changes, press 'BACK', otherwise press 'SAVE & CONTINUE'.
- Wait 15 seconds or so for the site to synchronise with our membership database, then you can continue on the site as a logged in member.
Common problems
- HPC number: if you are HPC registered but can't remember your number, go to www.hpcheck.org where you can quickly retrieve it. If you aren't registered, choose either the 'application pending' or 'not registered' option as appropriate.
- Employment: if the form already contains some employment details for you, make sure you complete all the information requested for that employer (the 'hours' field is optional).
- Clinical speciality and Professional speciality: select from the available options - if none are applicable then leave the section blank.
- Blank screen: sometimes when you save a page, the screen does not scroll back up to the top of the form. If you see white space, you probably just need to scroll up to see a message.
- You've completed the form but still can't move on:
- if you have had confirmation that the form is complete but you can't access member only pages, you may need to wait up to a minute, or log out and log back in again, while the site synchronises with our membership database.
- Have you checked the three acceptance boxes at the end of the summary screen? Go back to the profile summary and scroll right down to the bottom of the form (see the note on scrolling, below). There are three check boxes you must select before you can move on. When you've done this as well as the other fields, click on 'CONTINUE', then 'SAVE & CONTINUE' to finish the process.
- You can't scroll to the end of the form: on long pages or on small screens, you will probably see two vertical scroll bars, as the profile form is a window embedded in the web page. You may need to move both of these bars to reach the end of the form.
