Welsh health minister hears CSP concerns

A CSP delegation met Welsh minister for health and social services Lesley Griffiths in December to discuss concern in the profession over the current financial situation in the NHS.

CSP Welsh Board chair Gethin Kemp and two regional stewards, Louise Wright and John Walpole, were among the party. They also discussed physiotherapy’s contribution to cutting orthopaedic waiting times.

During the meeting, the minister agreed to sponsor an event to launch a bilingual version of the CSP’s Physiotherapy Works document, and to visit Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, to hear from frontline physios working in musculoskeletal services.

‘It was a very useful meeting and important for the CSP to highlight issues of specific relevance to physiotherapy,’ said Pip Ford, CSP policy officer for Wales.
