Stewards spread the word

CSP stewards are helping advise injured coal miners that they could benefit from a change in the law.

Miners and former miners with osteoarthritis of the knee can now claim industrial injuries disablement benefit if they have worked underground for at least 10 years in certain roles.

The Society, in conjunction with personal injury law firm Thompsons Solicitors, has sent posters to all stewards working in coal mining areas giving details of the new entitlement.

One poster for CSP members gives information about the condition known as miner’s knee, while another poster for display in waiting rooms, gives direct advice to patients.

Copies of the posters can be obtained by emailing campaigns@thompsons.law.co.uk
