After presenting the annual report to the annual general meeting (AGM), she was asked to auction four signed copies of Katie Piper’s latest book, Things Get Better.
The impromptu sale tested not only tested her skills with the gavel but meant she had to rally AGM delegates to dip into their pockets.
Bidding soon started at the £20 mark and within minutes a generous donor had raised it to £50.
Faced with four books to sell, Dr Johnson took the unconventional path of putting all of them under the hammer at once.
With four bidders in the frame the sales were completed within minutes: cash only was demanded.
The CSP Charitable Trust collection at the end of Katie Piper’s presentation the previous day raised £600, which will go towards assisting members in need of support and towards research projects.
