Physio helps civilians race the RAF

A physiotherapist has supported a team of civilians who competed against the Royal Air Force in a charity bobsleigh race event.

Anneke Loode, a physio from East Grinstead, travelled with the civilians team to the Austrian Alps where she helped treat any injuries picked up during the hair-raising competition.

‘As a physio I really had to think on my feet as we literally had a few minutes before a race, so it was a challenge to work out the main problem without much time for assessment,’ said Mrs Loode.

‘I also did complete treatments back in the hotel where I had more time.

There was no treatment couch or any such luxuries, so lots  of improvisation.’

The bobsleigh race event was held in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund and took place the week before Christmas.

To date the event has raised £8, 710.
