New leaflet helps make every moment count

A straightforward guide for people caring for an older person, either at home or in a care home setting, has been created with CSP help.

Scottish care regulator the Care Inspectorate published a leaflet last month that highlights the value of simple actions by carers.

The CSP in Scotland worked with Alzheimer Scotland, Scottish Care, the Scottish Government, and other organisations to produce the resource – which is titled Make Every Moment Count.

It contains key messages for carers to help them understand an individual’s needs, values and lifestyle.

There are five categories: get to know me; it’s not just what you do, it’s how you make me feel; know what I can do and support me to do it; help me feel comfortable, safe, and secure in my surroundings; and remember little things all add up.

The leaflet also includes useful web links.
