HR bosses backing Workout at Work Day

Human resources (HR) managers are backing Workout at Work Day, on 19 June, after the CSP developed an association with the professional body, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

The partnership will see the society’s online Fit for Work leaflet series co-branded by the CSP and CIPD. In addition, a new printed leaflet will carry the CIPD logo and look at how activity can help improve physical and mental wellbeing in the workplace.

This joint initiative will allow the CSP to reach HR managers with advice for employees on keeping healthy at work. It will also give the CIPD’s 135,000 HR manager members specific ideas for supporting health and wellbeing in the workplace and for reducing absence rates.

Ben Willmott, CIPD’s head of public policy, said: 'It is in employers' interests to understand how to prevent and manage stress at work in order to reduce employee absence and boost performance at work. This involves recognising the benefits that increasing levels of physical activity can play in boosting individual health and resilience under pressure.'
