CSP stresses business case for physiotherapy

The business case for physiotherapy in Northern Ireland was spelt out last week at an event hosted by CSP at the parliament buildings in Stormont, Belfast.

With health and social care currently being reviewed in Northern Ireland, CSP policy officer Tom Sullivan said the event offered a vital opportunity to outline the economic case for physiotherapy to politicians and policy makers.

Drawing on the CSP’s ‘Physio Works’ briefing documents, Mr Sullivan said: ‘If physiotherapy services are implemented properly, they can deliver more effective and efficient services to patients.’

Natalie Bestwetherick, CSP’s director of practice and development, said: ‘These documents are designed to inform and educate decision makers such as commissioners and politicians about delivering better services.

‘Physiotherapy works not only for patients, but also for employers, commissioners and for government. Investment in it is a no brainer.’
