Council seats open for candidates

CSP council elections take place in May and the society is calling for members to come forward as candidates.

Ann Green, whose term of office as chair of Council ends in October, says she is keen to see applications from ‘as wide a range of members as possible’.

‘Sitting on council is a challenging role, but, as ever, working with physiotherapists is always fun and sociable too,’ she says.

Vacancies are for seven nationally elected members (one educator, one independent practitioner, one researcher, one otherwise employed and three NHS-employed). There are also seats for a country board representative for Northern Ireland, six English regional network representatives (Eastern, East Midlands, North East, North West, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside) and one seat for an associate member.

They will serve for four years from October 2011.

‘Council offers the opportunity to bring your expertise and experience to inform the strategic direction of the society and contribute to decisions that affect members’ everyday lives,’ says Ms Green. ‘It’s a really exciting personal development opportunity, but for employers and colleagues the benefit is the wealth of up-to-date information you will have on live issues.’

The deadline for applying is 28 March. Ballot papers will be sent to members on 28 April.
