Burning question - practising and cage fighting

‘I am a practising NHS physiotherapist as well as a professional cage fighter. Can I do both?’

Yes.

Cage fighting, like many martial arts or fighting sports, is a lawful and regulated activity.

Care must be taken however to separate the two professions in a clear way and to consider the impact, if any, that being a cage fighter may have on your reputation and the reputation of physiotherapy.

Examples would include not referring to physiotherapy when being interviewed and maintaining a high standard of behaviour at all times.

You should also check your employment contract as it may restrict your ability to work outside your main NHS job.
