The Painful Knee from Youth to Old Age

Mr Deepu Sethi, Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, has designed this evening course to provide attendees with an update on knee conditions and their treatment methods in 2018.

The talk will be in two parts: firstly, Mr Sethi will cover all aspects of the degenerative knee and its management options. We will discuss more commonly-presenting degenerative conditions of the knee and how to manage a patient coming to your practice and complaining of knee pain.

In the second half of the evening, we shall look at the knee conditions your younger patients are more likely to complain about: sporting injuries. Mr Sethi sees a wide range of sporting injuries in his practice and so will cover a range of knee injuries, focusing on those that commonly occur from football. We shall discuss ACL injuries, ligament injuries and meniscus tears among other conditions as well as share tips on diagnosis and treatment pathways.

Mr Sethi is at the forefront of treatment options and so will discuss the treatment pathways that are open to patients; from conservative options (hyaluronic acid / PRP etc) to joint preservation (osteotomy, meniscus transplant, stem cell therapy etc) to the latest methods of ACL repair / reconstruction & joint replacement (biological, robotic surgery). In this talk, we will therefore focus on when to refer, how to interact with orthopaedic surgical services and how to ensure your patients can access the best treatment pathways for their condition.
