Member presentations for Older People's Day

Year published: 2017

Kate Bennett, Specialist Physiotherapist and Vice Chair of Agile, has created two tailored falls prevention PowerPoint presentations and simple accompanying notes for members to use on Older People’s Day. One presentation is aimed at patients and the second is aimed at GPs.

Kate said: “I hope that the notes and presentations will help make delivering the information on falls prevention straightforward and effective.  Older People’s Day is a great vehicle to promote the role of physiotherapy in preventing falls and encourage investment in physio-led falls services. Good luck with your plans and well done on stepping up to promote our profession.”

Hundreds of members have registered to take part in Older People’s Day and are planning to use the presentations in a number of different settings including:

  • Setting up information stands in GP waiting rooms sharing the presentations with patients while they wait and the GPs during breaks
  • Approaching local supermarkets and other busy venues to set up stands in foyers running the patient presentation on a laptop seeking discussions with passers-by
  • Hosting events in Care Homes offering residents and their visitors the opportunity to view the presentations
  • Presenting at CCG and Patient Participation Group events speaking to commissioners and other decision makers about the role of physio in falls prevention.

If you have any queries about using the presentations or notes you can contact the CSP Campaigns and Regional Engagement team members who are on hand to help. Email cre@csp.org.uk
