Non-NHS
Over a third of CSP members work in non-NHS settings, and this figure is set to rise as demand for physiotherapists increases significantly in the non-NHS sector.
Members working outside of the NHS do so in the following areas:
- independent hospitals
- charities and the voluntary sector
- industry
- higher education
- ministry of defence
- sports clubs
- home office
- leisure industry
- occupational health and ergonomics
- private practice.
Employment Relations And Union Services
The CSP provides a range of employment relations and union services for non-NHS members. These include:
- advice on contracts of employment and self-employed relationships
- support at grievance and disciplinary hearings and at Employment Tribunals and small claims courts
- advice in terms of constructing pay claims
- pay surveys of groups of members by sector, pay structures and grading structures at the workplace or within the sector
- supporting claims for trade union recognition
- advice on Health and Safety issues at the workplace.
Members working in the non-NHS sectors who are in need of advice or representation should contact their steward or safety representative in the first instance. If neither exist, advice can be obtained from the CSP’s Employment Relations and Union Services function.
