Responding to NHS deficits in England
We are working to ensure that the Government's requirement that NHS trusts balance the books by the end of this financial year does not adversely affect the provision of effective, high quality and timely physiotherapy services, or result in long term damage to the physiotherapy workforce.
Health Select Committee inquiry
The following extract comes from the Government's February 2007 response to the report of the Health Select Committee inquiry into NHS deficits.
'The position is most difficult for physiotherapy graduates where nationally 58% are estimated not to have found work. We are working with SHAs to ensure that steps are taken within each region to provide practical support for newly qualified graduates and maximise their chance of securing employment.'
