NHS organ donor campaign

The CSP is urging all members to register as an organ donor with the NHS’s online scheme.

The NHS is currently campaigning to increase the number of people on the Organ Donor Register.

More than 10,000 people in the UK need a transplant. Of these, 1,000 each year will die waiting as there are not enough organs available.

Approximately only 28% of people in the UK have joined the Register. The NHS also urges cardholders to ensure that they are registered so that their wishes are recorded.

CSP chair of council Ann Green, said: ‘I have carried an organ donor card in my purse since I was a student, and updated to the online register as soon as it became an option.’
